Avoiding 'another selection by another jury', we propose an approach that is less focused on the one
ultimate book of 2006 and more on the origin of the book. Like a discovery tour of the book or an
alternative bibliography. Because a bibliography is a kind of description of the book, but by means
of other books. Keeping this in mind, we invite the twelve of you to put together a collection of
bibliographies. Think of it like a genealogical tree, with the emphasis on structure – rather than on
linear chronology. Which branches lead from/to the book? Which other books are related in terms
of form, content and context? We want to end up with as many books as possible, starting with the
first twelve. – The Book & Other Books is the result of a workshop, supervised by Julia Born &
